Leafs in Position to Get Rare Road Win PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Friday, 12 February 2010 02:20

When the Toronto Maple Leafs travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues, they will be looking to continue the solid play that was present in their past couple games.

January 31 marked the beginning of a new chapter in Leafs history with six players heading out of town. Toronto is 2-2 since with a 3-0 victory over New Jersey and a 5-0 win over Ottawa; ending the Senators 11-game win streak. Their losses were both close losses, to first place San Jose 3-2 and at New Jersey, 4-3, in a game that the Devils needed three goals in the last 3:04 to win the game.

Playing with a young roster, nine players with fewer than two years of experience were in the line-up last game, the Leafs are playing with more energy and a physicality that was not seen earlier in the year. This is leading to Toronto being in games, which is something that has not happened most of the year.

St. Louis will come into the game having lost four of its last five home games. Playing at the Scottrade Center has been a problem for the Blues as they have struggled to a 10-16-5 record at home this season. Paul Kariya has embodied this trend as he is fourth on the team in goals it 12 but has only scored two at home and they both came in their last game.

Those doing sports betting might be thinking that the Blues might get some help for their struggling offence against a Toronto team that has given up the most goals in the league however J.S. Giguere has two shutouts in his three games with the Leafs. This is the last game for both teams before the Olympic break and Toronto has a good chance of going into it with a win.

PayPerHead.com launches new pricing, a new site, and a new campaign featuring Soprano's Johnny Sack PDF Print E-mail

PayPerHead.com, an online sportsbook service provider for local agents, today unveiled a new campaign featuring Vince Curatola, Johnny Sack of The Sopranos fame.

The campaign leads with Vince asking "Five bucks per head, that's what I wanna pay..." and the website, featuring video and voice overs by Vince, walks you through the product, the process and the competition.

"Five bucks a head is really an industry first given our level of service," a spokesman from PayPerHead.com explained. "And we very carefully and in great detail delineate on the website exactly what you get and at what price level at PayPerHead versus the other serious players, such as IDSca."

And what you get is a lot, including not only the traditional online sports betting management services but an optional casino, live poker, in game live betting, mobile betting, tools for managing players and their funds, layoff and scalp accounts, even a "sharp check." "We have the sharpest lines out there and one of the most experienced stages anywhere offshore," the spokesman said, "so if we start seeing sharp action from one of your players, we can give you a heads up. What you want to do with him is up to you."

The choice of Vince Curatola was an interesting one. "We always liked Vince's character on The Sopranos, as John "Johnny Sack" Sacramoni," the PayPerHead spokesman said. "He had a certain style, classy, but not over the top; there's a calmness and authority about him that we really admire.  He brings that serious business demeanor to PayPerHead.com, the first sportsbook-service to EVER feature any kind of celebrity in its marketing."

With post-up books like BetUS, Sportsbook.com and SportsInteraction stopping taking US players, Bodog and others struggling with "Ecom" processing problems, the street scene is heating up and players are posting daily in forums looking for a "local out." Players want the huge selection of markets, including live in-game betting, and the convenience of anytime betting online or via their mobile, but more and more say "they want to bet online but prefer to settle in cash on Monday."

Is this the future of online sports betting? Quite possibly. And with firms like PayPerHead.com investing in marketing in an unprecedented way (celebs, who'd have thunk it?!) and in product (they also offer live poker, casino and in-game betting), expect to see this sector grow significantly this season.

NHL Awards Preview PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday June 22, 2011 the NHL sports betting league will be holding their annual awards show to congratulate the top players and administrators of the 2010 – 11 seasons. Despite losing the Stanley Cup in game seven, the Vancouver Canucks will be well represented during the awards ceremony, as several players and management are up for awards. Here is a betting online prediction as to which players will win awards.

Jack Adams Trophy (Best Coach) – This year’s Jack Adams Award features three exceptional coaches, Pittsburgh Penguins boss Danny Bylsma, Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz and Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Alain Vigneault. In theory, one would expect that Vigneault wins the award hands down, as he led the Canucks both to the top record during the regular season, along to coming within a win of the team’s first ever Stanley Cup.

However, we feel that Barry Trotz will receive the award, as he led the Nashville Predators to another impressive season. For the first time in breeders cup betting and franchise history, the Predators went to the second round in the playoffs losing to the Canucks. Trotz should win the award, as his team has no clear cut superstar and instead wins by committee, while the two other candidates have stacked teams.

Vezina Trophy (Best Goalie) – The annual award for best goalie, features both goalies of the Stanley Cup finals, Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks along with Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne. Despite crumbling under pressure in the playoffs, Luongo appears to be the favorite to win the award, as he had the most wins of any goalie.

Yet, this year’s award will go to Boston Bruins Stanley Cup winning goalie Tim Thomas, for the second time in his career. Thomas led the NHL with the best goals against average at two along with a 938 save percentage. Thomas was the only goalie in the playoffs to not be pulled in any of his starts in all four rounds. What’s more, he single handedly shut down the Vancouver Canucks while helping the Bruins wins their first Stanley Cup in 39 years.

NHL Betting – How Does Home Ice Affect Your Betting Picks? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Webmaster

Even fans of the Ottawa Senators may decide to put some extra cash down on their team to make the game a little more interesting, but they have to consider the home and away factors when it comes to making their betting picks and here are a few things to look at.

You should always expect the home team to be the favorites, although experienced players that work with price per head software may note a discrepancy in talent (for example, a team that is leading their conference in points may be favorites on the road against the worst team in that conference).

But you should always look at the last few games that a team played ahead of the matchup you would like to bet on. Are they in the middle of a homestand? Is this their first game back after a long road trip? Are they in the midst of a road trip? These are all questions you should ask yourself.

You should also go back and check out the head-to-head history of the two teams playing because some teams have trouble playing in specific buildings for one reason or another. It could be a matter of location; for example, west coast teams will sometimes have trouble when they head to the east, and vice versa. Even though teams travel on private plans now, the travel can be an issue, as well as adjusting to the time change, so consider this before heading to your sports betting websites.

NHL Betting – What Is The Grand Salami? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Webmaster
Monday, 02 January 2012 00:00

From Calgary Flames fans to those that follow the Columbus Blue Jackets, people might be looking for a reason to make the hockey season more enjoyable. Online wagering is one way you can do this, and one of the most unique ways that you can wager on a hockey game is via the grand salami. It is something that is thought to be for experienced players, but once you figure it out, it really isn’t that difficult.

The idea of the grand salami wager is to bet on the over/under for total goals in a given day for the NHL. You don’t have to be a player that uses a price per head service to get into this, there is really nothing else to it. You take the number of games on that day and lay a wager on if the total of goals will be over or under a certain number. This is a method to spice up NHL betting on totals because all games are going to have a total between 5-6 goals.

However, there are some tricks to learn before you start betting on grand salamis as you have to know if a team that is usually high scoring is struggling to score goals, or maybe a team is playing their third game in four nights and their legs won’t be fresh. Also, you have to pay attention to the teams’ totals throughout the season. And who is the starting goalie? These are all things to consider before making your sports betting pick for the grand salami.
